The next time your friend posts a vague facebook status, reply with this video
“Wow, I guess I can never trust anybody ever again.”
“Today is the day. Feeling determined.”
“Hey, more bad news, please cross your fingers.”
If you’re like me, you use that “unfollow” button on Facebook pretty religiously, whether it’s to avoid that random kid from high school who gets a little too overzealous about current events, or to avoid the onslaught of engagement announcements that come in your 20s. Another great reason for pulling the plug on someone: the dreaded vague status update.
The above video by comedian Jason Horton pokes fun at the Facebook equivalent of the subtweet, showing how ridiculous these status updates would sound if they were used in everyday conversation.
So the next time you’re tempted to post some vague thought in the hopes of getting someone’s attention (because let’s be honest, that’s the end goal here), read it out loud. If it’s not something you’d say to another human being, you probably shouldn’t say it to 1,000 of them.
