Olivier rousteing talks diversity and balmain x h&m collection

Though the Balmain x H&M collection doesn’t hit stores until November, the luxury brand’s Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing is already dishing about the collab.

In the short clip shot in his Paris studio, which is described as the “first chapter,” Olivier discussed the opportunity Balmain x H&M has given him to be inclusive and create diversity in the world of fashion.

“Balmain is a real luxury brand and really inclusive…” he said. “And thanks to H&M, that is this huge platform, joining Balmain and H&M, it’s creating an entire nation. And I think the hashtag #HMBALMAINATION is a symbol of togetherness.”

Olivier announced the collaboration last month while on the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards along with Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn, who both wore looks from the upcoming collection.

Like H&M’s previous designer collabs, which include high-end names like Alexander Wang and Isabel Marant, Balmain x H&M will allow the pricey brand to become much more accessible and affordable, which also makes it much more likely to sell out quickly. Is it too early to get in line now?
