Let it be known that 2013 is the year of Miley Cyrus‘ reinvention. While she first became known for her acting gig on “Hannah Montana,” she wants everyone to know that the only characters you’ll see her playing are the ones in her much-talked about music videos.
“I don’t really care to do anything acting-wise,” she says in the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar. “I want to make all of my music videos so epic that it feels like I’m still involved with acting.”
People can’t stop buzzing about her latest clips, including the twerk-filled “We Can’t Stop” and the more naked “Wrecking Ball.” The two videos combined have amassed more than 300 million views on Vevo.
The pop princess, who recently dyed her hair brown, explained that spending years as Hannah Montana on the Disney channel has shifted her focus and she credits her super-producer Pharrell (who she calls her “rock”) for helping her find her current sound and bad girl look.
“I feel like every girl is trying to have a beauty shot and prove that they’re ‘fashion.’ But I can be in white leggings and a white sports bra and I’m on a whole other level of sh– that those girls don’t even get yet because they don’t know how to do it,” she explained about her style in both “Wrecking Ball” and the Diane Martel-directed “We Can’t Stop.”
With the videos still buzzing on the Internet, the next month will prove busy for the singer. Cyrus will release Bangerz on October 8, just days after she appears in her MTV documentary, “Miley: The Movement,” on October 2. “I’m someone who cares about the real things in life. There are things that are personal that stress me out, but my career? That doesn’t affect me. I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing,” she said. “I’m not scared of anything.”
