Lea michele reveals how she ‘miraculously’ found love after cory monteith’s death
One look through Lea Michele’s Instagram will tell you she seems to be a genuinely happy and fulfilled woman. Sure, we’re all guilty of using our social media presence as a sort of “highlight reel” of our lives, but the signs are all there that Lea’s perfectly content.
She’s clearly committed to taking care of herself, as evidenced by the green juices and yoga selfies that litter her ‘gram. And then here’s the set pics that prove she loves her work, and the beaming smile she has when she’s surrounded by family and friends.
But as you probably remember, that sunny disposition was compromised two years ago when her “Glee” co-star and boyfriend of two years, Cory Monteith, passed away of a drug overdose. Lea publicly dealt with her grief on “Glee,” but in real life, being on her own was something she needed to grapple with in order to open herself up to love again.
Lea covers FLARE magazine’s October issue, and revealed to the mag how she was ready and able to move on after Cory’s death.
“I wanted to make sure that I was OK with me, feeling strong and feeling happy on my own,” she explained. “I didn’t want anybody to fill any holes for me — that sounds sexual! I wanted to make sure that I was a whole person again and that no one was coming into my life to put me back together. I needed to do that on my own.”
Now, Lea is beginning a new chapter in her life. “Glee” is off the air, paving the way for her new starring role in the upcoming Fox series “Scream Queens.” And most importantly, she’s found love again — since 2014, she’s been happily dating 30-year-old model Matthew Paetz.
“I worked very, very, very hard and I got back to that place where I was genuinely happy and strong and ready to live again and see the world and, you know, bring in more beautiful experiences,” she said. “And that’s when someone miraculously came into my life.”
Of course, Cory will always be an important part of Lea’s life — she made that clear when she posted a touching tribute to him in July on the anniversary of his death. But it’s good to see her smiling and in love again.
