Lea michele hopes her neighbors don’t care she’s naked in her backyard
Lea Michele has transitioned from Broadway starlet to TV star. And now, with the official release of her album, Louder, you can call her a pop star too!
No matter what her title is, though, Michele says she’s comfortable in the skin she’s in, telling Seventeen magazine for the April cover story that sometimes she’s … a little too comfortable.
“I’m very comfortable with my own body. I come from Broadway — everybody’s naked on Broadway. I like to think of myself as more granola,” Michele said. “I’m not going to run around naked or anything like that unless I’m at my own home. Today, I walked into my backyard and was standing out there naked for a while. Don’t tell: My neighbors will freak out!”
The “Glee” star also opens up about her brand-new debut album, Louder, where she sings about love, relationships and the loss of her boyfriend Cory Monteith.
“I try my best to march forth and live my life as best as I can for me,” Michele said. “I also feel an incredible, happy responsibility to keep the memory and light of [Cory, who] was the most amazing person. I’m so happy to make it my journey now to continue on and live my life as best as I can.”
After completing a rehab stay last year, Monteith tragically lost his battle to his drug addiction in July 2013. But Michele, who was dating the actor at the time, wants people to know that Monteith “was not his addiction.”
“I only have happy memories of Cory. He was not his addiction — unfortunately, it won. But that wasn’t who he was,” Michele explained. “Cory made me feel like a queen every day. From the minute he said, ‘I’m your boyfriend,’ I loved every day, and I thank him for being the best boyfriend and making me feel so beautiful.”
Michele leaned on the support of her “Glee” castmates, telling the magazine that there was no question about her return to the show after Monteith’s death at age 31. “[The ‘Glee’ cast] is the greatest group of people I have ever met in my entire life! We all lost Cory. I didn’t think for one minute that being away from them was what I wanted,” Michele said.
Now as “Glee” gears up for its 100th episode on March 18, and then a final bow after season six, Gleeks are keeping their fingers crossed for a potential spin-off. Rachel Berry seems to be onboard.
“Let’s do it,” Michele told the mag. “I think it could be Rachel living in New York and working on Broadway!”
