Is ‘american horror story’ bringing in a terrifying meme?

Two weeks after “American Horror Story: Hotel” wrapped up with a bloody finale, rumors for the award-winning anthology series’ sixth season have started to circulate. But instead of the focus being around a specific time period or location, the whispers are about a particular person. Well, a mythological person.

Slender Man (also written as Slenderman) originated on SomethingAwful under a forum thread titled, “Create Paranormal Images” in 2009. His creator, Eric Knudsen, sparked an internet revolution with his skinny boogeyman.

The 21st century horror icon who stalks children has produced a myriad of memes, endless fan fiction, and even a video game. Slender Man thrives on psychological horror, not gore or torture porn — which is why he’s creepier than your average fictional monster.

According to Us Weekly, an “insider” revealed the faceless horror meme will be the focus of the newest season. “Someone else wrote the script, and ’AHS’ wants to adapt it to fit the show. They have to buy the rights. Then they’re going to figure out the cast from there,” said the source.

As for the cast, series co-creator Ryan Murphy tweeted back in October, “Lady Gaga is so brilliant in AHS Season 5 that yesterday I officially asked her to join Season 6.” As of this month, it’s still unclear whether Gaga will sign on for more scares. (But since she just won a Golden Globe for her role as The Countess, it seems likely she’d want to return.)

TBH, this theory sounds super sketchy. Since all the seasons of “AHS” are connected, how does Slender Man fit into this equation? You could argue the Addiction Demon from “AHS: Hotel” sort of resembles Slender Man, but even that’s a stretch.

According to E! Online, a new source disputed this Slender Man rumor, claiming the new season’s plot won’t be revealed until March, and “it’s an idea that has been hinted about in previous seasons.”

Two days before “AHS: Hotel” ended, Murphy started dropping hints about Season 6. “Tonight I started to tell all the actors who they were going to play for next season because I had too much to drink, so I told Angela Bassett and she was like, ’What?!’ I’m going to regret it tomorrow, I think I said too much too soon,” he told E! Online.

Well, one thing we do know for certain is we’ll have to wait two more months before we know any more details.
