‘girl code’ aha! Moment: snacking is a drug, but isn’t it the best drug?

Whether it’s why you should love your boobs or why you should not cut your own bangs, MTV’s “Girl Code” delivers fresh insight about all-too-familiar topics, and is sure to sometimes have its female viewers fervently nodding their heads while mouthing to the television screen, “Yessss, exactllllly!!!” Oprah calls that kind of catharsis an “aha! moment,” which sounds like a positive thing, so we’re highlighting a different part of the show each week that made us feel like maybe, just maybe, we’re not the loner freaks we originally assumed. Take a look at the latest below.

Not that we’re psychologists or anything, but food addiction is a very real thing, which — to us — basically makes it a drug. And of all the branches on the nutrition tree, the snacking one — made of candy, chocolate and cheese — is by far the worst culprit when it comes to noshing. Would you binge-eat an entire roast chicken or bag of broccoli? Possibly, but it’s nowhere near as likely as offing a giant bag of Doritos in one sitting. However, in the grand scheme of things, eating an entire pint of ice cream or box of cereal is way better than tripping balls and waking up in a ditch, so take it from the ladies of ”Girl Code,” and indulge in the happiness that snacking brings! You’ll feel better every time.

In the snippet below from the latest episode, the comediennes discuss the finer points of giving in to snack cravings, and while some say that self-control is a virtue, others argue it’s not even worth the trouble. ”It’s really hard to control snacking, I don’t suggest trying to do it,” Tanisha says, advocating for snackers of the world. “That s**t is probably, like, getting off a really heavy drug.” Melanie agrees that when faced with an army of delicious treats, it’s almost impossible not to devour them on sight — especially when you’re reeling from an emotional downfall. “You WILL eat all that in one night when a guy stands you up.”

Always the advocate for bliss, Quinn perhaps has the best outlook on the whole thing. ”Snacking makes you happy, right?” she reasons. “Don’t deny yourself happiness. Snack away.” And there you have it — now grab that block of cheese and go to town, ladies!
