‘finding carter’ concerns: is maxlor’s relationship on unsteady ground?
After more breakups and makeups than we can count, Max and Taylor finally seemed to be on the road to happiness, but are they about to hit a few speed bumps?
The long-haired hunk is certainly preparing for turbulence: On last night’s “Finding Carter,” he played it cool when Taylor admitted that Gabe is in love with her — but then expressed mega-concern when she and her smitten pal went to check out a college together.
“This weekend has been hard enough — I have no idea what’s going to happen when Taylor goes to college for real,” Max shared with Elizabeth. “And I trust her completely. Gabe, on the other hand…”
“You have nothing to worry about,” Liz offered. “Taylor and Gabe, they’re like best friends. Like you and Carter.”
Note to Elizabeth: That wasn’t the best comparison considering Max and Carter recently smashed in the back of a pickup truck. #whoops
“We’re so different though,” Max continued. “I wonder if she would be better off with someone she had more in common with.”
Sure enough, Taylor was soon mingling with a bunch of her college-minded peers: Red Solo Cup in hand, the Wilson twin was at a frat party chatting up Ned, the handsome student who’d led the school tour earlier in the day. Gabe, meanwhile, was staying true to the vows he’d made pre-trip by staying sober.
But before long, Taylor was MIA, and the G-man became concerned.
“Have you seen her?” he asked Damon, who was also along for the weekend. “It’s not like her to take off without saying something.”
Gabe was right: In one of “FC”’s most heartstopping scenes yet, Ned took a disoriented, woozy Taylor up to his room — yes, the SOB had roofied her drink — and began to undress her. As Tay struggled to fight back, Ned became aggressive — until Gabe burst into the room and carried her out like he was Superman and she was Lois Lane. A little later, he unleashed his inner superhero again and kicked the d-bag’s ass.
Up, up and away!
It wasn’t until the car ride home that Taylor awakened and asked exactly what had happened. And when Gabe explained the terrifying event — and his heroic act — Tay was stunned by his devotion.
“I can’t believe it. If you hadn’t have been there…” she said, her voice trailing off. “If it were anyone else, they would have figured I was fine. They wouldn’t have gone looking for me. I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything,” the newly minted savior replied. “It’s not that I wouldn’t do it for you, Taylor.”
“Gabe…” she whispered, staring at him intently.
“I know,” he interrupted. “You’re with Max.”
But somehow, right then, the look in Tay’s eyes seemed like it maybe-sorta-coulda been more than just gratitude — and later, when she arrived at Max’s pad and hugged her beau, she looked over his shoulder and mouthed “thank you” to Gabe as she again gazed at her friend. Hmmm…
So tell us: Did you pick up on any special vibes between Gabe and Taylor? Do you think their weekend drama will bring them closer together and eventually threaten the state of Maxlor? And does Max have a point that Tay should be with someone more like herself? Sound off in the comments, and be sure to watch another episode of “FC” Tuesday at 10e/7p!
