It has been confirmed that one person died on Sunday during a Toronto stop of the Vans Warped Tour. The Alternative Press reports that the fan, 19-year-old Taylor Nesseth, passed away after collapsing at the show on July 15 at the Molson Amphitheatre.
The site reports that the teen passed out during a set by hardcore band Chelsea Grin at around 12:40 p.m. Witnesses attempted to perform CPR, but they were unable to resuscitate her. No immediate cause was given for her collapse, but police said that it was most likely a medical condition.
When paramedics arrived, they found Nesseth without a pulse. She was brought to Toronto Western Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She had posted on her Tumblr account that she was heading to the show that day. The Ontario native’s identity was later tweeted by attendees at the show. Reports of her attending Chelsea Grin’s show at the time of her death also originated on Twitter.
The band has yet to comment about the death on their Facebook page, and official word about the fan’s identity has yet to be confirmed.
A statement about the fan’s passing was expected to be released by tour reps on Monday (July 16), but a rep contacted by MTV News had yet to respond by press time. As of now, the official word from the tour’s Twitter is “With regards to today’s events in Toronto, we will release an official statement on http://vanswarpedtour.com when we have all of the details.” That message was posted on Sunday.
That same day, other Toronto fans were cleared from the area, but it was due to weather concerns, the Toronto Star reports. They were moved to a covered part of the venue.
The Vans Warped Tour has no show scheduled for Monday; its next stop is in Denver on Tuesday. The tour wraps up August 5 in Portland, Oregon.
