Demi lovato fires off ‘made in the usa’ as next single
Demi Lovato is about to get patriotic on her new single, just in time for the Fourth of July. Lovato has confirmed that her second Demi single is the long-rumoured “Made in the USA.”
The song is the follow-up to “Heart Attack” and comes from Jason Evigan, one half of the production team The Suspex. It will hit radio on Thursday.
Lovato co-directed the music video and will debut a lyric video for the up-tempo tune on Wednesday. No specific date has been set for her the actual music video, but it should drop sometime in July. In the video, she will be joined by “special surprise actors.” When she spoke to us back in May, she shared that having the chance to help direct a video for the first time was a “dream come true.”
She added, “I always wanted to do it when I was younger, then I just had the opportunity this time and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I have to take advantage of this.’ So I came up with the idea for the treatment and I told my manager this is what I want on this second and on this shot and this to happen… and want this camera to pan that way and he was like, ‘Why don’t you just direct it?’ and I was like, ‘OK!’ ”
Lovato may be celebrating her next single, but she is also weathering some sad news. Over the weekend it was confirmed that her biological father, Patrick Lovato, died after reportedly battling cancer for years. Lovato was not at “X Factor” auditions over the weekend, Us Weekly reports. The singer had been estranged from her father, even sang about their relationship on her song, “For The Love of a Daughter,” which appeared on her 2010 album Unbroken.
On Sunday, she tweeted, “I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers.. God bless you all, thank you so much.”
Lovato is slated to appear on “Good Morning America” on Thursday and will perform at the VH1’s Philly 4th of July Jam on Independence Day along with The Roots and John Mayer. She’s also up for “Choice Female Artist,” “Choice Female Hottie” and “Choice Smile” at the Teen Choice Awards, airing in August.
