Big sean hits stage with “uncle” snoop lion at secret show in los angeles
Social media has its perks. For those who follow Detroit-bred rapper Big Sean on Twitter, it granted access to a secret show Thursday night in downtown Los Angeles.
Though details of the Unite All Originals concert (sponsored by Adidas) were kept under wraps, footage shouldn’t be hard to find. The master of musical ceremonies was none other than Snoop Lion, and he encouraged the crowd to take their cameras out and record the show from start to finish.
AraabMuzik kicked things off with a 30-minute EDM as the G.O.O.D. Music headliner was a bit busy being feted with a birthday cake backstage. When he finally hit the stage, Sean, who turns 25 on Monday, told the crowd he felt like partying. Clearly having a ball onstage, the show indeed felt like a pre-birthday bash.
Big Sean, named by MTV as the #6 “Hottest MC in the Game,” started with the song “Mula” and continued to hits from his debut album “Finally Famous” and “Detroit” mixtape. He promised the fans that he has been working “hard as hell” on his sophomore album.
“Hall of Fame, it’s gon be coming to y’all soon as hell,” the MC said. Then sweaty and shirtless, he jumped into a Detroit techno booty remix of “Mercy” and jumped into the audience to show love while “Clique” played out.
Snoop closed the show not by getting into his new reggae flow, but by bringing the O.G. Kurupt onstage to freestyle over more AraabMuzik beats. And if you didn’t catch the show this year, Snoop said it will be an annual event. Considering he was smoking the entire time, however, this may or may not be true.
