Ashley graham calls out amy schumer’s ‘plus size’ label double standard
After racking up Sports Illustrated and Maxim covers earlier this year, Ashley Graham has a new, equally major one to add to her résumé — Cosmopolitan.
In addition to the stunning cover, the magazine released some interview excerpts, including one in which the model comments on Amy Schumer’s dissatisfaction with being labeled “plus-size” by Glamour Magazine earlier this year.
She says, “I can see both sides, but Amy talks about being a big girl in the industry. You thrive on being a big girl, but when you’re grouped in with us, you’re not happy about it? That, to me, felt like a double standard.”
Amy responded on Twitter, writing that she has “nothing but respect for Ashley.”
I totally understand Ashley’s feelings. I don’t group myself in with her because she is unbelievably beautiful. Nothing but respect for her

That said, though, Ashley isn’t a huge fan of the plus-size label, herself. “Just because I’m not calling myself plus-size doesn’t mean I’m not representing a woman who is,” she told the magazine. “I’m giving curvy women a seat at a table that we’ve never been invited to before — a table with high-end fashion people who have never considered us beautiful.”
It seems likely those invites will continue rolling in because, well, we all want to see more of Ashley Graham.
