Watch Wednesdays at 10pm ET on MTV!Some of them have dated. Some of them were in long-term relationships. Some of them have just hooked up. But they've gone their separate ways...until now.
What happens when former lovers are reunited? That is the terrifying question that twenty-six competitors will be asking themselves this season during the most intense Challenge yet, Battle Of The Exes. Set against the exotic backdrop of the Dominican Republic, each former lover will be partnered with their ex -- as their one and only teammate for the entire game. In order to claim their share of a massive $300,000 prize, these brokenhearted exes must find a way to make their failed relationships succeed -- or at least until they cross the finish line.
However, not every pair of exes will make it to the Finals to compete for a cut of the cash. Teams will do whatever it takes to avoid being sent into "The Dome" - a physically and mentally demanding elimination round. Here's how it works: after each challenge, the team that performs the worst will automatically be sent into the dreaded "Dome." And the team that performs the best will become the Power Couple. The Power Couple will be safe from elimination and have the unprecedented advantage of casting the one and only vote for a team to face off against the worst in "The Dome." No more alliances. No more bandwagon votes. The two unlucky teams will battle it out in "The Dome" for survival. The winners will remain in the game. The losers will be eliminated.
Along the way, the past will come back to haunt these former couples. Some exes will struggle to deal with painful grudges and broken hearts that have never been mended. And, for some, old feelings of love will be reignited. The stakes have never been this high, emotions have never been this raw, and the competition has never been this fierce, as these ex-lovers put their hearts on the line and battle for their share of the winnings. In the end, the teams that make it to the Finals will be sent to a shocking location 4,000 miles away where they will compete in one of the most epic finales in Challenge history -- and only one pair of former lovers will be crowned champions of Battle Of The Exes.
Meet the Cast
Paula was attracted to Dunbar on their first show together, The Island, and the twosome had a fleeting hookup. Later on The
Duel II, after a jealous Paula caught Dunbar kissing opposing team member Kimberly, she successfully orchestrated Kimberly's
elimination, causing Dunbar to dub Paula, "the worst friend he's ever had." Ever since then, their relationship has been rocky
at best, as Paula clearly states, "What did I do in life to end up being attached to this man? I cannot be with him! He's
annoying and obnoxious." Dunbar, as well, seems to be worried about his newest partner, professing, "Paula needs to learn
to trust and listen to me. And that's probably not going to happen because -- oh yeah -- she hates me!" It seems as though
the only thing this pair of exes can agree upon is their mutual hatred.
CT struck up a romance with Diem on The Duel and the relationship blossomed as Diem, a survivor of ovarian cancer, found solace
with CT during her difficult recovery process. However, when Diem decided to focus all her energy on her career the two parted
ways. Things took a darker turn, when the two exes returned for The Duel II and Adam K told Diem that CT had been hooking
up with Shauvon and they haven't spoken or seen each other since. News of their partnership has reopened old wounds for Diem
who maintains, "I don't know what our dynamic is at this point other than the fact that I'm still angry. Like, I'm pissed."
CT remains undeterred by Diem's rage, claiming, "There's no way she can be mad at me cause I won't let her be mad at me."
Will bad boy, CT charm his way back into Diem's heart or will their turbulent past prove to be too much to overcome?
On The Battle Of The Sexes, Aneesa and Rachel met and were instantly drawn to each other. Rachel reminisces, "In a nutshell,
me and Aneesa had like a little short love affair and then she just didn't treat me the way I wanted to be treated and it
didn't work out." Later, Aneesa and Rachel came to blows on Duel II when Aneesa called out Rachel for toying with her emotions
after spying on Jenn and Rachel kissing in the bathroom. Aneesa fumes, "I had an issue with the fact that, you don't come
and have sex with me and then go and have sex with someone else when you know that I loved you. Rachel rebuts by claiming
that their hook up was seven years and ago. Years later, Rachel updates, "Aneesa and I worked out all of our skeletons in
the closet and now we've really come to a place where we're just really good friends." Now that this pair are on good terms
will they communicate better as friends than they ever did as lovers?
Emily and Ty's relationship began on Real World: DC. Ty recalls, "When I first saw Emily, I was immediately attracted to her
and we ended up hooking up for a pretty long time. But eventually, our love turned completely to hate." That hate culminated
with Emily spitting in his face. Later on Cutthroat, a prank by Emily set Ty off and caused him to trash Emily's bed in a
fit of anger. And when Ty lost his Cutthroat elimination, his then - teammate Emily declared that she hoped to never be on
a team with Ty again. However, on Battle Of The Exes, Ty will be Emily's one and only teammate -- and it has Emily worried,
as she explains, "Ty has the build and the muscles, but that's all for show. When he gets down to it, he never follows through.
I don't even know if we're going to make it past one challenge!" We'll see if these bickering exes can best Emily's grim prediction.
Wes picked Mandi as his partner on Fresh Meat II despite having reservations about her ability to compete. But Mandi held
her own over the course of the season and even outlasted Wes during The Exile elimination. The two began hooking up on Rivals,
but Wes admittedly messed things up with Mandi afterwards, confessing, "We were about to be boyfriend and girlfriend, and
I just kind of dropped the ball because my business took off and I got so stressed." However, Mandi didn't just sit around
waiting for her redheaded man. She explains, "I made a big move to St. Louis and I'm living with my new boyfriend." Now that
Mandi is taken, will Wes be able to move on from his feelings? A love-struck Wes confesses, "If I had to choose between winning
the prize money or winning Mandi back, I would have to say Mandi." Only time will tell if Wes comes out a winner...
Camila became attracted to Johnny on Cutthroat, but Johnny kept things friendly as he had a girlfriend at home. However, the
rumor mill was abuzz that the twosome may have been more than friends. Camila describes their complicated relationship, "People
like to talk about what they don't know, but me and Johnny, we're close. So I don't blame them!" Now a newly single man, Johnny
definitely doesn't rule out exploring things more with Camila stating, "Circumstances have changed in my life and I basically
have free rein to do things I wasn't able to do before!" Watch these two to see if their warming relationship will heat up,
and how it may affect their game.
Odd birds of a feather, Abram and Cara Maria first fell in love on Cutthroat. But after an intoxicated Abram had a heavily
publicized run-in with the police, Cara Maria decided to call it quits. The couple has since reconciled but their on-again,
off-again relationship is anything but reliable. Abram complains, "Cara Maria is like a cat. When you try to chase a cat it
just runs away and then you turn around and go sit down and the cat shows back up at your leg." Cara Maria, for her part,
worries about Abram's often fiery temper. She confesses, "He's so passionate and so intense that sometimes you just need to
get away. He's just got an animal inside him." Will the Battle Of The Exes lead the couple to finally fully commit, or will
the pressure of the game tear them apart for good?
Mark and Robin first met while on opposing teams during the Battle Of The Sexes 2. Their relationship was short-lived, but
the two maintained a steady friendship. Over the years, the former lovebirds have gone their separate ways, with Mark pursuing
a TV hosting career and Robin proudly embracing single-motherhood and looking forward to "the opportunity to come to a Challenge
and make money to better my life." When reunited as a team, Robin is thrilled at her still muscle-bound ex, who she touts
as, "Balanced, calm, and an overall great athlete." But a disappointed Mark recalls his partner's horrible Challenge record,
lamenting, "Getting Robin as a partner is like getting dealt a turd, and you can only shine and polish a turd so much." Will
this veteran odd couple be able to overcome their different viewpoints and battle their way to Challenge victory?
Dustin and Heather were immediately drawn to each other on Real World: Las Vegas, but their relationship was rocked when Heather
learned about Dustin's history working for a gay porn website. The couple weathered the obstacles, but when time came to leave
Vegas, they decided that maintaining a long distance relationship would be unrealistic. Unable to resist each other, the exes
resumed their romance after the show and are currently dating. Dustin is enthused to be partnered with his girlfriend, stating,
"I don't have any lack of confidence in us, as a team. I think we're strong." Heather, on the other hand, sees some potential
pitfalls. She notes, "The worst thing about being paired with Dustin is that he has no shame in showing his competitive side."
It's yet to be seen if the stress of competition will bring out Dustin's temper and if that will prove too much for their
relationship.
Jasmine flirted with Tyrie at the start of Rivals even though she had a boyfriend back home. After hooking up with Tyrie,
a regretful Jasmine was thrilled when "Challenge boyfriend" Tyrie lost early and was sent home. After dropping thirty pounds,
a lean and mean Tyrie is back and insists that he and Jasmine are focused solely on winning now, "We're basically just business
associates on here," but admits that his old flame, "still "looks good in a bikini!" However, having patched things up with
her boyfriend back home, an angry Jasmine wants nothing to do with her now "Challenge ex," vowing, "Tyrie still wants me,
but I don't want Tyrie in any kind of way and he needs to get over it!" With the tension already rising between this volatile
couple, will they be able to keep this powder keg from exploding?
On Real World: Las Vegas, Naomi claimed to not care that her romantic interest Leroy slept with other women. Leroy recalls,
"We had a friends with benefit type thing, and I'm like, this is sweet! And then, it turned into a disaster." Naomi admits,
"Towards the end, I did catch feelings." But coming into the Battle Of The Exes, Leroy is focused solely on the game, "I don't
want to hook up with her here. I want to leave that in the past and see if we can make some money." Will this couple be able
to keep their heads in the game or will they let their emotions get the best of them?
After Nate made out with Priscilla during their first night on Real World: San Diego, she claimed she wasn't interested in
him. But later when the housemates vacationed in Cabo San Lucas, Priscilla was the one throwing herself at Nate. By then,
Nate had come to see her as a little sister and refused the nineteen-year old's romantic overtures. Priscilla still claims
she has no interest in Nate, and hopes their lack of animosity will give them a leg up on the other teams. She states, "We
don't have some crazy long history. We didn't have genuine feelings for each other." Nate echoes Priscilla's sentiments, going
as far as to say he plans to pimp his partner out to ensure their safety in the game. He offers, "If we need some strategy
she can go make out with all the guys and show her boobs, and that could really work out." We'll see if these newbies have
what it takes to live up to their high expectations and hang with big dogs.
Vinny and Sarah hit it off on Fresh Meat II, hooking up in a hot tub and between the sheets. As Sarah put it, "He was a one-night
stand that lasted two or three nights longer than it should have." On Cutthroat, Vinny called Sarah a loser for voting him
into the Gulag, where he eventually lost and went home furious at her betrayal. Now, Vinny will tell you, "Outside of this
game, we are not friends at all!" Vinny returns to the Challenge huskier, but still with his trademark brash confidence, boasting,
"I think Sarah would definitely still hook up with me - if I won a Challenge for her." But Sarah has a totally different plan,
professing, "There is no chance whatsoever, in any parallel universe, that Vinny and I will be getting together. He was a
selfish lover." Tempers are certain to flare when these bickering lovebirds are forced to reunite.
