MOVIE MINUTE: GRACE IS GONE

Grace is Gone stars John Cusack as the husband of a Sergeant stationed in Iraq. When tragedy strikes, John's character, "Stanley," is forced to tell his two young daughters the bad news that will change their lives. The movie revolves around "Stanley" dealing with grief, and Cusack talked about real life experiences influencing how he acted out his sorrow in the film. "That's your best school, is when you've actually been through it and I've lost friends and family members and so, I've been around it." Cusack has been praised by journalists and critics as really transforming himself to play "Stanley." He says the transition into his character was a little different for this film. "I really lost myself in the character a little more than I have done in some movies where they want you to be some leading man or some romantic thing or something like that."Grace Is Gone hits theatres tomorrow.

AHMET ERTEGUN TRIBUTE CONCERT TO COME OUT ON DVD.  Good news for the millions of people who want to go to the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert on Monday, but aren't able to - the event will be recorded for a DVD release.  The show, which pays tribute to the Atlantic Records co-founder, will feature performances from Foreigner, Paul Rodgers, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts and, most notably, a reunited Led Zeppelin.  There's no word on when the DVD will hit shelves.

POLICE DRUMMER APOLOGIZES FOR COMMENT ABOUT CHILEAN PRESIDENT.  It's a good thing that Police drummer Stewart Copeland doesn't sing much, because he has his foot in his mouth.  The reason, according to Reuters, is what occurred during a recent interview, when Copeland made a comment that implied Chilean President Michelle Bachelet is less attractive than Argentinean President elect Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.  Stewart told Chile's Mercurio newspaper, "Look, the future President of Argentina would be good for one beer; yours (would be good) for four."  An apologetic Copeland wrote to Bachelet, saying, "I was mortified to learn this remark reached you and you were asked to comment on such a trivial matter."  As an olive branch, the drummer invited Bachelet to see the band perform in Santiago.

COOLIO TO HIT THE KITCHEN IN NEW COOKING SHOW. XXL magazine reports Coolio will be hosting an online cooking show called Cookin' With Coolio beginning next year. The program will air on MyDamnChannel.com, which will offer individual artists their own web channel to broadcast original content. Cookin' With Coolio will be a weekly series in which the rapper will instruct viewers on how to cook healthy and affordable soul food dishes such as "Fall-Off-The-Bone Chicken" and "Soul Rolls." Coolio will have two female sous chefs called "The Sauce Girls" by his side, and is expected to host special celebrity guests.

UGK LEARNED FROM TUPAC. Pimp C, was one half of the rap duo UGK, or Underground Kingz. Before his untimely death, Pimp C told us that he and his fellow MC Bun B followed the ways of one Tupac Shakur. "We took lessons from Pac.  Pac come in town and, whoever had some money, he gonna go do a song with them.  I love rapping with the underdog.  I get a kick out of seeing nobodies become somebodies.  That's why we get down so much on the rap hustle tip.  That's what we call it: rap hustle." Authorities are hustling to find out what caused Pimp C's death. As of now they do not suspect foul play.

GIVE IT TO MADONNA. The fan site Drowned Madonna claims to have had a source present at a record-company listening party earlier this week for the singer's new album.  The site says the album - which had just been completed - is titled Give It To Me, after one of its 13 tracks.  Kanye West reportedly pops up in two other songs - "The Beat Goes On" and a re-vamp of an unreleased older song called "The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You."  And of course Pharrell Williams is all over "Candy-Shop," which could be the first single.  The album should be out in late April.

CROSSING JORDAN ACTRESS HAS SECOND CHILD. According to People magazine, actress Jill Hennessy gave birth to a baby boy on November 21st. This is the Crossing Jordan actress' second son, both with her husband Paolo Mastropietro. They have another son named Marco, who is four-years-old.

TERI HATCHER SUED BY COSMETICS COMPANY. E! Online reports that Hydroderm has filed a two-million dollar lawsuit against Teri Hatcher, claiming that she wrongfully hocked goods for a competing company. The two signed a deal in 2005 and Hyroderm alleges that despite a no-competition clause, the Desperate Housewives star joined up with City Cosmetics. Apparently, though, Teri was with City first, and Hydroderm maintains they never would have signed Hatcher had they known. The suit itself states, "Hatcher's name, image and likeness have been linked to so many competitors' products (at least 17!) that it is anyone's guess as to what product keeps her skin and lips youthful." The actress' attorneys responded, saying the suit is "a transparent and pathetic effort to distract from its own failure to live up to its end of the agreement."

RHYS MEYERS GETS OFF. The charges leveled against Jonathan Rhys Meyers have been dropped by Dublin authorities. He was slapped with two charges of public drunkenness and breach of peace last month for threatening and abusive conduct against airport workers while waiting for a flight back to London. According to E! Online, the actor's attorney said that his client "absolutely accepts his behavior was unacceptable and out of character... He unreservedly apologizes, in particular, to British Midland staff, to security staff and gardai (the police force of Ireland)." While authorities won't pursue the charges, Rhys Meyers did receive a legal caution, which is a probationary action that could cause charges further down the line should he break the law again. In addition, the Match Point star said he would make a voluntary donation to charity.

JA RULE ON THE BIG SCREEN IN FURNACE.Ja Rule is set to star with Paul Wall and Tom Sizemore in the upcoming film Furnace. The movie is a supernatural thriller full of blood, death, and gritty secrets that unravels after a chain of suspicious suicides take place inside a maximum-security prison. And according to Vibe,Ja is really excited about the project, "What I like most about Furnace is that it is my kind of horror film, [and] I'm into horror films where things could be real like exorcisms and ghosts. There is also a great cast so it was a film I definitely wanted to be involved with."  Furnace is set to be released February 12th.

CABLE ON BROADCAST. Due to the writers strike, we may soon be seeing some cable programming on the broadcast networks. According to Reuters, network head Les Moonves says CBS is preparing to put such Showtime programs as Dexter, The Tudors and Weeds on the broadcast airwaves. Of course, the episodes would need some heavy editing due to broadcast standards. The exec did not say when to expect the cable shows to make their debuts on the public airwaves, but he did say that Dexter could appear "in the near future."

CHAPPELLE BREAKS HIS OWN RECORD. Dave Chappelle can stand up for a while. According to the Associated Press, the comedian broke his own record by remaining on stage at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles for six hours and 12 minutes. His previous record was six hours and seven minutes, which he set in April. The owner of the comedy club said Dave wanted to reaffirm his status because the Chappelle's Show star heard that Dane Cook would be taking a run at him. Chappelle told the crowd that he's been traveling of late, recently visiting Ecuador.

DENNIS QUAID SUING DRUG COMPANY.  According to TMZ.com, Dennis Quaid and wife Kimberly Buffington have sued Baxter Healthcare, makers of the drug Heparin.  They are claiming that a near-fatal overdose of the anticoagulant given to their newborn sons was the result of improper labeling.  They maintain that the look and packaging of the ten milliliter vial is too similar to the ten-thousand milliliter vial of the same drug.  Three children in Indiana have reportedly died from similar mistakes.  As of Tuesday, no suit has been brought against the hospital, Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai.
