MOVIE MINUTE: DEATH SENTENCE
In Death Sentence, Kevin Bacon plays a man who witnesses his son getting murdered and vows to hunt down his killers. Comedian Aisha Tyler gets serious in the film and plays a sympathetic homicide detective. She spoke about trying a non-funny role. "To me, it's more interesting to do a role that feels new to you and feels like you're going to transform into something you haven't done before. So I loved it, I thought it was great." It turns out that the part wasn't really intended for someone who looks like Aisha. "It was originally written for a 50-year-old, white guy so when you think of a 50-year-old, white guy, you obviously think of Aisha Tyler, so I was really flattered by that." Death Sentence also stars Kelly Preston and John Goodman and it hits theaters Friday.
GNARLS MAN WORKS ON GNARLS AND A WHOLE LOT MORE. Gnarls Barkley is hard at work on their next album in Atlanta, but one half of the duo is also keeping busy with some other projects too. Danger Mouse is producing the latest record from London act Shortwave Set; the album is tentatively titled Replica Sun Machine. He's also putting hours in on the new Black Keys record. That album is slated for release in early 2008. And as if that's not all, he'll also get behind the board for Martina Topley-Bird's second solo album, The Blue God, which is also due out next year. The yet-to-be titled follow up to Gnarls Barkley's St. Elsewhere is expected later this year or early '08.
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE COVER RIHANNA. The last place you'd expect to hear a Rihanna song is on Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution, but the Barbadian singer's hit track "Umbrella" did just that when New Jersey band My Chemical Romance recently covered the single at a show. Fans can see footage of the performance on YouTube now. My Chemical Romance and the Projekt Revolution tour play Holmdel, New Jersey tonight.
LILY ALLEN PUSHES REGGAE ARTIST OFF STAGE. Lily Allen was in rare form again on Monday. According to the U-K's The Sun, the singer shoved reggae star Bobby Kray off the stage at the Notting Hill Carnival. Apparently, Lily made her way onstage with a beer in hand and tried to wrestle the mic from Bobby, pushing him off the stage. Kray responded by grabbing Allen's beer and pouring it on her. After the incident, Lily, red in the face, ran off. Beside her behavior, the entire event is strange as the "Smile" singer is said to be a fan of Kray's.
KEITH RICHARDS EATS A CIGARETTE. Never one to stay out of the spotlight, Rolling Stone Keith Richards went out with a fizzle this past weekend at the band's final show on their latest tour. A fizzle because, according to NME.com, Richards apparently ate a cigarette onstage to protest the ban on smoking at the venue, London's O2 Arena. The show is rumored to be the band's final live performance. They played many of their hits and covers of The Temptations' "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" and James Brown's "I'll Go Crazy." After the show ended, there was no announcement made regarding if it would be the last one ever.
BO DIDDLEY IN INTENSIVE CARE. Bo Diddley suffered a heart attack during a routine medical checkup on Friday. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member was undergoing a regularly scheduled visit to his doctor when he complained of dizziness and nausea. He was immediately taken to the emergency room at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, where he suffered a heart attack. CHRIS BROWN OPENS UP TO VIBE.Chris Brown, who's about to drop his sophomore album, Exclusive, let Vibe magazine in on a few other exclusives, about his love life. MTV News reports, the magazine's new cover boy reveals that he's "girl crazy, very girl crazy," but there are limits. For instance, the nude photos that turned up on the Internet in March were not actually him. Brown told the mag, "First of all, I don't take pictures of myself. If I'm gonna show somebody that, I'd rather show the person that's gonna be in the room with me at that time." As for rumors about him liking Ciara, they are false. When asked about her, Vibe noted his face "curls up as if he'd just noticed a foul odor," and he said, "I don't want Ciara. I don't want any industry girl." He'd prefer a "regular girl" but only if she's "a model." No wonder he hasn't had more than two girlfriends (the last when he was 14), or been on a proper date in more than three years. "I've had girlfriends, but it's different," he said. "Not jumpoffs! Like, you don't be like, 'That's my girl,' but you know when you hang with her, it's like ... friends with benefits. If I'm singling out one girl, think about all the other girls who are falling in love with me in that club. What they gon' think? So it's like, I have a relationship with every girl. It's like every girl is my girlfriend." The magazine hits newsstands September 11th. And his album Exclusive will be out October 30th.

AKON QUESTIONED IN MELBOURNE. Given that Australia started out back in the late 18th century as a faraway penal colony for British convicts, you can imagine Akon's surprise when he got hassled for his criminal record after landing at Melbourne airport on Monday. "I've been on the road for three years," he told the Herald Sun newspaper, "and it's the first time I've had this problem." Authorities were dubious about the five years jail time the singer had done for drug and theft convictions - but in the end, they gave him a visa, and he and The Game kicked off their Australian tour last night.

Public listing information shows that the house features three and a half bathrooms, a formal living room with vaulted ceilings and a flat grassy yard with ocean, city and mountain views. DON VITO'S COURT DATE PUSHED BACK. Vincent "Don Vito" Margera saw his first court date on two counts of sexual assault on a child once again pushed back; Monday's proceeding has now moved to October 22nd. But the news wasn't all positive for Bam Margera's uncle, as he was hit with 12 counts of violating his bail-bond conditions. Pam Russell, a spokesperson for Colorado's Jefferson and Gilpin County district attorney's office, confirmed that each unspecified violation is a felony, but said she was not allowed by law to provide specifics on how Margera is alleged to have violated his bail. According to MTV News, a hearing on the bond-violation charges is slated for September 5th. Margera has been out on 50-thousand dollar bond since last year, when he was charged in the incident that allegedly involved inappropriate contact with two underage girls at a promotional event in Colorado. He was ordered to return to his home in Pennsylvania, submit to random urine tests, have no contact with children under 18 and supply his bond supervisor with his itinerary if he travels for business. Margera's attorney could not be reached for comment. In addition to a maximum of six years in prison on the assault charges, the Associated Press reports that he could face up to 18 months in prison for the bail violations.
